The Moon 22k Gold
The Moon is a handmade piece bathed in a beautiful matte black glaze over a speckled clay, featuring tiny moon craters, and evoking the mystery of the night. The inside is glazed with a black gloss which brings out a very subtle amount of light speckles from the clay body, awakening an ethereal, starry night feel. A full moon is then glazed delicately by hand with real, genuine 22k gold and placed into the kiln for a third firing.
The perfect little cup, planter, paint brush holder, or to fill with all the beautiful things that need collecting.
Approximately 3.5” x 3.5” / 8 oz.
Each ceramic piece is designed, sculpted, and fired in my studio in Maine, resulting in artisanal objects with traces of beautiful imperfection.
Symbolism
The moon’s influence is immeasurable (it can literally move oceans!) and is a symbol of the soul. The magic of The Moon piece illuminates the darkness to remind you of your hidden potential. A totem that prompts you to stay curious and to never stop wondering about the magic that you hold within you!
The Moon welcomes creation, clarity, and wholeness into your space.
I chose black for protection and strength. It can be said that black is the most powerful color, so the black used in this piece acts as a means of turning negative energy away from you. I chose gold because gold is the color of illumination and symbolizes passion, magic, and wisdom.
Each one of a kind piece is designed, sculpted, and fired in my studio in Maine.
My ceramics are made from high-quality materials and fired at a minimum 2167°F. Each piece is handbuilt, primarily using coil or pinching techniques, giving it an organic, tactile feel. I work closely with the clay’s natural characteristics, shaping each piece using my hands and simple tools.
Glazes, refined through years of testing, are carefully applied by hand using brushes — some made from materials found in nature — and other hands-on techniques I've developed over time. This careful process requires a lot of patience but ensures every piece is truly a work of art and reflects my vision.
My process is deeply personal and tactile, allowing me to connect closely with the materials I work with.
This connection is evident in my work — each piece tells its own story, shaped by the moments and choices that make it soulful and one of a kind. What might appear as flaws actually give my creations character, reminding you that they were made by a person, not a machine.
These little imperfections stand in contrast to the perfect, sterile look of mass production or the cold exactness of machines. Instead, they bring warmth, individuality, and the natural beauty of handmade work.
